Embed SBSAR 3D Material Into .AI File
The ability to embed a 3D SBSAR material into an illustrator file so that other designers can open and use the same .ai file. Currently, the material is lost and greyed out.
Especially if they are custom SBSAR materials made in Adobe Substance Sampler.

It turns out that if the material is removed from the panel, it will no longer load when the .sbsar file is deleted.
The team replied there is a legal reason for this behavior. Ai cannot transfer customer materials as few materials are purchased by specific user from Substance. There is no way to tell them apart, so none of them gets embedded or packaged. The only way to share the materials like these is to actually transfer .sbsar files along .ai documents, when possible and allowed.
I have no idea if this workflow ever changes, but since it’s not an actual solution, the requests stays open. -
Trevor, this is strange. If I add an .sbsar material with the 'Add' button in the panel, and apply it to an object, it stays applied to it, when I load the document back in — even though the original .sbsar file is deleted or moved. So it does get embedded for me just fine, no graying out happens...
Please take a look at the test file attached — are you able to see wood planks applied to the cube?
