Animated Zoom for Mouse wheel
Please add the Animated Zoom function for the mouse wheel, now this can only be done using the "Z" key and the mouse movement. It is very inconvenient to scroll using alt + mouse wheel when the percentage of increase jumps from 66% to 100% in one turn of the mouse wheel. The trackpad on the macbook zooms very well, but it is not convenient to use. Add a switch to the "General" settings next to the scroll wheel " Use Animated Zoom to scroll with the mouse.

Somewhat related to this request:
Customizable zoom levels (including mouse wheel zoom and hotkeys)

I know the ctrl + space zoom tool switch. But it would be nice to have that feature as well.
Thanks Egor.

Ai has the smooth zoom, but not with the wheel.
In Preferences > Performance you can enable 'Animated Zoom' option (usually enable by default) and use Ctrl+Space to temporarily switch into the Zoom tool — and it’s smooth.
It gets disabled often in Outline mode though, if the screen is small (GPU support Outline view mode only for large screens for some reason), so this can become irritating rather quickly. Here is a general report on this: http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/601447/suggestions/36129871Zooming using touchpad is also smooth, on both desktop platforms.

Adobe XD had that smooth zoom feature that I wanted to see in Illustrator. Most people use a mouse with a clicky mouse wheel. When we zoom by holding Alt + using the mouse wheel it skips when you feel a click in the wheel. But in XD it was a smoother zoom effect.
So, I am looking for a smooth zoom feature in Illustrator. Thanks.
