Dimension Tool Ungroup to edit
To be able to ungroup the dimension, created with the dimension tool so it can be edited. The only way I have found how to edit it is expand appearance. And that duplicates it a number of times so you need to delete the duplicates first.
Recent builds offer a native way to hide units in live dimensions, so there is no need to expand these to hide them manually or use the Find and Replace hack anymore

Just tab it one way then back using the arrow keys and it expands the dimension

Yes, Clark, it makes total sense, and I asked for an ability to remove units. It should work globally and per-dimension, manually and automatically, based on the width.
Meanwhile I discovered that although the text is not editable while the object is live, it still get affected by Find and Replace :) But it’s still a workaround.
Thanks for the request! Upvoted. -

The reason to edit, is to remove the unit aberration when space doesn't allow for the full un-aberrated measurement to be keep at a legible size on the technical drawing.
Moving it does make it editable but, then it's defeating the purpose a bit. You then have to reposition the measure.
Example attached of the work we do. Left is manually created measurements. Right side I have used the dimension tool. As you can see it gets a bit crowded sometimes hence the need for a sample method to edit/remove the unit abbreviation.
But love the tool!!.

Indeed, Expanding Appearance does the same to me, the parts of the object get duplicated, thrice.
There is no dedicated Expand command, like other objects like Blends and Envelopes have (yet, I hope), but at the moment the most easiest way to expand it is just move it. No duplicates happen. But what do you want to edit specifically? Why expand these in the first place? Can you demonstrate an example of an edit you later perform?
