Render performance problem with missing links
If you have a document with missing links then Illustrator show proxy images instead of originals. But when I want to work similar files then display performance is bad. Pan, zoom very very slow.
I am working with Macbook Pro M1 Pro, Adobe Illustrator Version 27, 28 or 29. View using CPU or GPU same results.

Hi Egor,
When AI display proxy images the perofmans is NOT ok. Proxy images are very low resolution. So AI should faster for rendering these images. But issue is opposite. I think there are wrong codes in depth.
I will check new beta. Thanks for info.
If to control display image settings will fix rendering performance issues then it can be acceptable.

Kürşad, do you mean that when Ai displays proxy images (when links are missing), the performance is OK, but with them present, it goes slow?
The current Beta does provide a WIP solution to this, which you can test. It sacrifices displaying annotations while panning and zooming (that is guides and grids), but it allows to stream the contents of the document much faster than it happens now.
Please, take a look at Beta (you can install it from you CCD app) and compare the performance. Also — InDesign has dedicated controls over the proxy display of images. What are your thoughts on this functionality?
