Align objects according to order of selection (first / last)
Align objects according to order of selection. Simple. No more moving objects forward or back just to align correctly. It is so stupid and I'm sick of it!

Padding and margin in Illustrator objects
It would be interesting to be able to place a margin or padding on objects such as shapes or text, in addition to a magnet system in which you can select what to stick this margin to, it could be vertex or edges.

Live align
With this live align feature, you could have two objects maintain their alignment properties even if you change one of the objects. For example, if you have a rectangle and text inside it. You should be able to align the text to the rectangle. Later, when you change the text or change the rectangle, it should keep the alignment settings persistent. So, if you made the rectangle longer, the text would remain centered on the longer rectangle.
I center objects within groups all the time. As far as I know, there is no way to make changes to objects and…

2 votes -
Distribute non-uniform objects equally
Would love to have a function that would arrange/distribute different non-uniform objects evenly within a prescribed area. This would be similar to how the current horizontal and vertical "distribute spacing" works but across a two dimensional area rather than just one dimension. The spacing should based on the edge of each object, not from the bounding box.
This function would be valuable for:
-creating unique patterns
-quickly arranging objects for a layout involving many individual objects
-maximizing space for printing/die cutting individual custom pieces such as stickersUser defined parameters could include:
-apply to selected objects
-fit within artboard
-fit…2 votes -

Align to Key Object using Direct Select
Double clicking on an object while having direct selection active does not cause the object to become key object. This is possible only when selection tool is active
Recommendation: allow double clicking to select key object while under direct selection tool

Align to Artboard is set as default
Align to Artboard is automatically set to default, even after changing the toggle to Align to Selection.
It used to work that whichever you selected, that selection would remain. But now, it always switches back to Align to Artboard. Very frustrating.

(Also for Indesign). Alignment groups
Please add feature to add an item to a group, but not have it factor into movement when Aligning.
Ie I have an item/group of items, and a Trademark symbol. Suggested new feature would Add the Trademark symbol to the group, but when aligning this new group the Trademark feature is not factored into positioning.2 votes -
Moved and pasted objects keep thrown off by 0.0001 pixels
I'm trying to copy, paste, then merge items. However, the pixels keep getting thrown off by .0001 pixels. Even when I put it back in place, it moves back to .0001 px above or below the actual coordinate. I already spoke to a team that did not do anything about it. This has been costing me literally over 100 hours of wasted time. I now give up and can't sleep knowing my pixels are not rounded to the nearest desired coordinate. Somebody for the love of God fix the **** bug. It's super duper annoying, especially for the OCD and…

Dropdown menu for alignment to specific artboards
I work with multiple artboards files every day and I constantly use the align tool to align to what I think is the artboard I have highlighted, only for it to jump to a different board. It would be awesome if you could click and hold for a menu to dropdown and then select the artboard to align that item to.

Duplicate & Distribute Objects
An automated option to duplicate an object (or multiple objects) on an entire artboard.
You could edit the space between the objects on the X and the Y axis.
it would be super awesome if it would center multiple layers or objects before duplicating them. this thing could help the entire printing industry.1 vote -

Please a "Center to page" in the MENU BAR. And...
Centering objects to page requires several steps... Many times in design, one needs to center an object to the page. by having that action in menu bar it can be done very quickly and efficiently. It can also be in the RIGHT click drop menu.

9-point magnetic object-to-grid (or-grid to-object) without smart guides
Could you consider a feature used in Esko Graphics (Artpro) for the placement of objects (9-point grid) to a crosshair or placing a crosshair to an object. This would expand current align and artboard functions into one clean and user friendly feature. Would also improve functions such as Mirror, Scale, Paste in place, copying to correct location across various files even if rulers are not set the same. For more details see: http://docs.esko.com/docs/en-us/artpro
I can expand on this for you on request. Might answer a lot of similar requests into one new feature!1 votePlease elaborate on the request, share some screenshots or mockups, and provide some info about the cases which can benefit from this functionality.
