Make it possible to select objects using a path.
It would be very useful to be able select individual objects in a document using a path which touches each of those objects or lies entirely within the path, or both, with each option being selectable by the user.

Thanks Seiji Miyazawa, your script works fine!

There’s a script now that allows this, by 3flab / onthehead / Seiji Miyazawa:

https://onthehead.com/ais/select024/Works great! Very rarely it misfires and keeps some things unselected or selects things it doesn’t need to, so please check the results.

I would love to have a selection button in Pathfinder.
Meaning if you have created a shape you can use that shape to select all objects inside it.
My idea is to have a button called "use object to select" inside the pathfinder window. This would be great if you have one pattern and want to create a new pattern inside it. Similar to a clipping mask but instead you select inside the object and can delete/chage size/create groups and so on.

Yes, please.
I know a hacky method that does this, for simple shapes, using Pathfinder, but it won’t work for complex group.
I see this feature as a natural extension of the Group Overlapping Objects request: http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/44725282 — but instead of grouping it should select.
Thanks for posting this.
