Scale percentages are not consistent for images.
When placing a file without changing the scale, the links panel should display 100%.
It does that for Linked Tiff (and PSD) files, but displays a scale percentage (that depends on the resolution) for JPEG and PNG files.
When images are Embedded, a scale percentage is shown, where a resolution of 72 ppi is shown as 100% and smaller percentages for higher resolutions.
When images are just placed 100% should be shown, they are not scaled and their size reflects their resolution.
Currently (Illustrator 28.7.1) it will show 100% for a Linked Tiff file with a resolution of 144 ppi,…51 votesIt seems like this issue has been finally addressed in the Beta 30.6.0.11. As reported, the only format that isn't affected by the fix is EPS.
Please try to update and verify it if it finally works as expected.

BMP bitmaps are seen as RGB, lose transparency and cannot be coloured in 28.5
Place a .BMP 1 bit file in AI 28.5. It is seen as RGB and cannot be coloured.
PSD and TIF bitmaps work fine.

Images within opacity masks shift
When using multiple opacity masks in a file in an earlier version, including 29.31. Opening it in illustrator 29.4 almost all the images used for the masks are repositioned to the center of the page.

Documents preview not updated properly in Indesign
When I save an Illustrator file, import it into Indesign, then make changes to the file, save it again and update the link in Indesign, some parts are not updated in the preview (see attached image). This doesn't happen every time, seemingly at random.
I have resolved this by first saving as an older version and then again as latest version, but that's not a real solution.
Somebody told me to uncheck 'Save in background' in settings, this also solved the problem but again, is not a real solution.I have this problem simultaneously with the (already known) problem where…
2 votesThe related issue (Duplicate layer – http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/601447/suggestions/50611952), which might have been causing this problem, has been resolved, and the fix is now available in our latest beta version, 30.2.12.
