I can't use Enter / Return key when typing
I can't use Enter / Return key in type - Why can't I press enter to start a new line of text?
For example:
I can't press Return
Like this:
and start a new line of text
or the Enter key
(or use soft return holding the shift key) it just jumps out of the text and selects the text box
Each time I'm typing and press Return or Enter Illustrator goes out of type and selects the text box instead.
I'm having to type in Notes or an Email to create the correct type. Please help.
I've check all my text settings including Leading. I've also checked and this works normally in Illustrator 26.5 so it means I'm using that and not the Beta version.
I'm using Illustrator Beta Version 26.6 on Mac OS Monterey 12.5.1

the workaround is using a Numpad Enter but it's not as convenient as desired.

Eric, I was told a week ago the second issue you mentioned is going to be fixed in the next build.
As for the other issue, with the assertion failure — I'll try to bring some attention to it. These messages are clearly for devs only and should not interfere with the users’ workflows like this.

THIS IS THE THIRD BETA ITERATION WITH THE SAME PROBLEM
1. In the Type panel, when selecting the drop-down for font names the attached error message appears EVERY TIME either the font name or size is selected. Some of the time, it causes the app to crash.
2. The "Enter" key (CR/LF) or "Shft+Enter" (CR) do not work in any mode of the Type command. If simply editing content, such as a headline, hitting CR closes and content type box and resets the font to the Myriad default in black.
Entering paragraph content, the keys just don't work. It's not possible to enter a paragraph break at all.
This error occurs on the following four machines all running Windows 11.

Carlos, so when you try to hit Enter in Beta, in ends the editing instead of inserting a carriage return/ line feed symbol? Is this what you mean?

Inma, does changing spacing work in dedicated Character panel, or is it broken in Properties panel only?
