Dot Grid no longer working in Illustrator 27.8.1
Preferences > Grids & Guides > Dot Style Grid is no longer working!
(Grids in Back is turned off, View>Show Grid is turned on)
Update: bug is still there and still very annoying, but if that can help solving it, the grid dots appear for a moment while the mouse is pressed when text is being selected.
Interesting, they do appear on CPU!
(but I’m guessing that will make everything else less performant?)
OS: macOS 13.0.1 (22A400)
Chipset Model: Apple M1 Max
Total Number of Cores: 24
Vendor: Apple (0x106b)
Metal Support: Metal 3
Resolution: 6016 x 4010
UI Looks like: 3008 x 2005 @ 60.00Hz
Indeed, totally invisible.
Can you share your OS specs, please? Also GPU and its driver number.
Also — does anything change if you switch from GPU to CPU (Cmd + E)?
Here are two screenshots with lined grid and dotted grid, otherwise the same. As you can see, the dotted grid is now invisible. I could see it before the update.
Are you sure the dots of the grid are completely invisible? I can see them as very pale dots. They are there, but barely visible for me. A screenshot, please?
When a grid is set as Style:Dots, it does not show up any more after update to 27.9, even when grids are not hidden. The dotted grids work in 27.8.1, and the lined grids work in both version.
Arseny, while the actual problem with the dot grid is still under review, this new comment you made is about the recent compromise the team introduced to boost the speed of panning and zooming greatly. At the moment this required to to disable all annotations-based elements while panning and zooming, including grids, guides, bounding box, etc.
Many users obviously see this as a bug, and I hope they will be able to ensure consistency later. Thanks for not being silent!
This bug occurs when GPU performance is turned on.
The "Lines" style grid renders as expected, but disappears each time when Hand tool or Zoom tool is used
UPD: Downgraded to version 27.7 - everything works as expected! Hopefully the patch will be released soon fixing this issue
