    I'm having the same issue.

A temporary workaround is to select any anchor point on the path and cut the shape at this point. This way, a shape turns into a path, and Illustrator is not longer able to save it as a circle.

This is suboptimal because you need to remember to do this cut when you do the export to SVG, which is a huge downside when you routinely deal with dozens of SVG images.

    Hi Everyone,

This functionality is available in our latest release build – 27.6.1.

The new functionality allows searching layers by name using the searchbar in the layers panel. The users can also apply filters based on layer properties (locked, hidden etc) or objects properties (effects, text etc.). This will help to quickly find layers/objects for large documents (having multiple layers).

Read more about this - https://helpx.adobe.com/in/illustrator/using/whats-new/2023-5.html#search-and-filter

Thank you for all the feedback.

This is great but it consumes screen space. And now those of us who don't have miriads of laters/objects in a document will have to wait for 4 more years for Adobe to finally add an ability to hide that search/filter field.

As far as I know, the auto-keying an object in a selection was a bug introduced in one of versions, not caught in time and slipped into the release, later fixed.

Since no object is forced as a key right now, I assume there is no need in having its bold outline to be hidden when Hide Edges is active, since these two factors rarely meet... However, if you have a workflow that requires to have both — I encourage you to file it as a feature request with some examples.

Key object's edge (the bold outline) is still visible even though the option "View > Show/Hide Edges" is turned off.

For example, I need to check how well two neighboring objects are aligned to each other — or if their fills match. This very prominent edge which can't be hidden completely disrupts the workflow. And I can't solve this by deselecting them because I'm not simply staring at these objects — I'm working with them.

So please make the Key Objects Edge feature respect the option "View > Show/Hide Edges".
