Starting from the February 2024 release, version 28.3, this option is no longer enabled by default for new documents. If you had hyphenation enabled in an existing document, Ai will respect this.

As mentioned before, this got shipped into the main (GA) build, but the development is not completed. The team has been gathering all the user feedback and intends to address it.

Hi Egor, I've recently gone back to using my mac and this feature is not working on my Mac now either.
This reddit post shows exactly the issue I'm having and they're on a mac too: https://www.reddit.com/r/AdobeIllustrator/comments/3k7icw/help_i_cant_move_shapes_like_i_used_to/
It used to work the same way when using the pen tool, in that you're able to re-position anchor points while drawing by holding the spacebar.
It's a shame this doesn't work anymore as it was very useful for aligning objects and artwork whilst resizing. Now i have to resize, click off the artwork, then reselect it in order to move it.

Hi Egor, It seems to have stopped working on my Mac after I updated to MacOS Ventura, perhapse just a coincidence but I did try rolling back to an older version of illustrator too but didn't fix it either.
It definitely used to work, not just for shapes but for grouped artwork aswell – I could resize a group of objects, text, images and at the same time reposition the group by holding spacebar (without having to release my left click).
I noticed it straight away when I went between my Mac and my windows rendering PC and was one of the reasons why I carried on using my Mac for any graphics work.
You're quite welcome to change the title as you mentioned! I hope I can use this feature again as it speeds up my design flow. Thanks!
