Hello Egor, as i said the first time, all the settings are set so it should work. I guess I am actually reporting a bug. I did not changed settings or whatever before this happening.
I think your question about the stroke fill irrelevant as the preview of the path is independent of it. I don't want to set a stroke to use the pencil. I don't want a shaky solution like "just fill the stroke so you can see it". In the video attached I change the shape of a letter so why should I need to first fill the stroke to use a tool I used normally before the 29.4 update. You can see how hard it is to edit simple shapes without the preview :/
I just updated again to 29.5.1 and the issue is still there by the way.
I had to downgrade illustrator to 29.2 at work so I can use the pencil tool as before, with the preview of the path while drawing. I think it's just a software issue with the updates and that's why I report the bug

I'd like an option to save magic wand settings. Every time I close illustrator I have to open the magic wand panel and change the settings again. It requieres few clics only but it's still annoying. It as been asked for years but it still doesn't seem to be possible in illustrator 2026. Thanks !
