The fix has been rolled out and is available in our latest release build – 24.1.1 for Win and 24.1 for Mac which is available worldwide now.

+1 Indeed a major flaw in the export system, making it practically useless and obsolete. This problem has existed since the launch of the Export Assets system and it's crucial for ANY webdeveloper/designer to export ONLY the clipped area, not any extra's.

I have disabled the PDF compatibility and that did the trick. It's now over a year later, and I also have posted other bugs that haven't been fixed in 3-4 years now. I had to switch to Figma. Best of luck.

Exactly the same issue here.
Saving an AI file takes 4-5 times longer than (around) a year ago. If you disable "PDF compatibility" than the time to save a file is back to normal. More people have this problem, which can be found in the forum on https://forums.adobe.com/message/10279391

Well finally! I haven't tested it yet, but i'll believe it works - it couldn't be that hard to fix.
Unfortunately for me, it's 4 years too late - i've switched to Figma a long time (2 years) ago.
Thanks for trying though.
