This happens when edges get hidden.
Enable them back with View > Show Edge (or Cmd/Ctrl + H).
Also, you can edit your corner values precisely with Corners field in Control and Properties panel. The Shape section in Transform panel allows you to do the same for live shapes.

Sketch is popular because it's trying to mimic the functions with illustrator while providing useful interface features and tools to make it efficient for web and mobile designers.
It would just be so much better, instead of making XD a whole new thing, but rather merge it into illustrator. It really doesn't need that much feature and would be so much better of a tool to use for design. It would open up so much possibilities. Since the majority of us is paying cloud anyway, it really doesn't make sense to keep making new programs when you could really just improve the existing ones to make it even more powerful.
XD is fun but really no one will opt out of sketch and switch to XD.
Illustrator on the other hand is such a fundamental tool for every designer and by adding the features XD/ sketch has into illustrator would definitely have more users switch over and use illustrator instead.
Even just adding the feature of having a way to show and measure distance would be enough.

I use illustrator for a lot of infographic and technical illustrations and let me just tell you, how frustrated I am that it's obviously a very useful feature, it's already in XD, and yet it's still not in Ai.
