Qwasar, they are working on it. There is a beta version of 2020 you can download and try out.

Until they resolve this just use 1/10 scale, very simple. Move the decimal point over one digit and there you go.
I'm terrible at math but I have found this very simple and useful. There are also scale conversion calculators out there if you want to do something other than 1/10.

I think Adobe is intentionally trying to frustrate their core users. I have been using 1/10 scale and it's really not that bad, but still, being able to work full scale would be great. Also, show rulers as a default for the love of god!!!!!!!

    Gabby,
I am too terrible at math, but I've been working in 1/10th scale lately. It's pretty easy once you get the hang of it. Just take the number in inches and move the decimal point over to the left one number, So if the size is 230" total, it would be 23.0" at 1/10 scale. 70' (840") would be 84.0"
    Hope this helps!

I am currently trying to scale something that is 170" total width and it won't let me because it will make objects fall off the drawing area...f**cking seriously? And it is in the center of the canvas. Oh but when I copy it and paste it into a new document it works fine. Sweet.

I have been doing 1/10 scale, I am bad at math and find this the easiest way to work around this.
So if it's 408" make it 40.8", just move the decimal one space to the left and you got it! 720"=72.0"

I just posted this AGAIN in the other Illustrator forum. Maybe some more activity on there will get some eyes on this subject? https://forums.adobe.com/message/10785096#10785096

I posted a link to this thread a few times on the other AI thread (https://forums.adobe.com/community/illustrator) but have not gotten any response there either. Are they listening to anything we are saying?

I downloaded the trial version of Designer too and looks pretty straight forward. I'm sure with s few hours of messing around I'd get used to it.

Is there any kind of free trial or anything? I'd be interested in trying it out.

That is very informative!!! I don't understand half of it but at least it explains things. Why couldn't Adobe just say that instead of keeping us waiting for a year?!

I also posted to a more current discussion forum, maybe like 3 or 4 weeks ago.
Also a poster got in touch with someone at Adobe via Twitter, also posted current Adobe team members names.

I got a reply from an Illustrator project manager on Twitter

I asked if this will be implemented soon, and he said:

"Not yet. Busy with core architecture work to support this in the future."

Here is the list of Illustrator project managers. Yogesh doesn't work at Adobe anymore apparently.
I'm reaching out to these people on Twitter, hopefully we can actually get an update.

    Anubhav Rohatgi
    Neeraj Nandkeolyar
    Sunny Ladkani
    Varun Sharma
    Vinay Pahlajani

    Also, be nice.

Setting up a vehicle wrap to print at scale is a headache. Designing is fine, but it's extremely frustrating when all I need is another 6 inches to have it at full scale.

Busy brainstorming more catchy new phrases to put at the top of the home screen?

Again, trying to scale a van up to full scale and it's like 6 inches too wide.

I think I'm going to post every time I am inconvenienced by this issue. Trying to scale a clipped image up to full size where the mask is smaller than the max artboard size, won't let me move it, but lets me make it bigger. I think the most frustrating thing is the inconsistency with this problem. There have been many times where I scale something to full size and it LETS me scale beyond the 227 limit, (I can see it on the screen) but other times it won't let me paste something that WILL fit under the limit but doesn't paste it centered therefore making it think it's too big, when it is actually just off center.

I'm surprised no one from Adobe has said anything about this yet...

I am now trying to scale something from 1/20 to full scale, which is a little over 91 inches, and it would not let me, until I released the clipping mask, which STILL was way under 227".
This is becoming more and more of a pain **********. At least make it big enough to scale a frigging standard Transit to full scale.

Yes, scaling is an option, BUT whenever I use effects on vehicle wraps for instance at 1/20 scale, they ALWAYS get muffed up when I scale them at full size. Drop shadows get distorted for example, and I have to spend double the time fiddling around with it to look right again. Also, let's say I'm designing graphics for a Transit or something with a long wheelbase, I go to scale and it's like FIVE INCHES over the artboard and I can't do it. Just give us SOMETHING Adobe. Let's try 300 inches at very least. AND GET RID OF THAT **** AT THE TOP OF THE NEW HOME SCREEN!!!! I don't need a personalized message or presets for A4, postcards, a web page, an I phone app, or HDTV. It's a waste of space that I could be using to see my recent files.

YES PLEASE ALREADY. I work in the sign industry and while scaling is obviously an option it would be so nice to be able to work in full scale.
Adobe, stop giving me encouraging messages on my home screen (I make great graphics every day on my own thank you) and make the **** artboard bigger, seriously. This is madness.

YES PLEASE!!! I work in the sign industry and almost everything I do on a daily basis is custom sized. I have no need for presets, and if I do it's usually standard letter or 11x17. I am NEVER going to use any of the presets that are standard. I also work with multiple customers a day, editing proofs and setting up files for production. This stupid thing takes up almost half of my home screen and it's useless to me. What would be helpful is if I could get rid of the presets and make the thumbnails of recent files size adjustable, like in Bridge, so I could see more of them right off the bat.

I was trying to scale 2 lines of live text to make them 18" high but once I made them a certain size I could not make them any bigger, so I starting using the point size in the text window and it stopped at 1296 pt...this is a new problem. Manually scaling at a smaller size works just fine, but once you get up to a big enough size live text options just stop working. I just updated to the 2019 version today (11-14-18) but am going to go back down a version to see if that fixes the issue.
