AI displays an error dialog on opening a file having STROKE OFFSET effect applied to a STRAY object
Continue to get this error message even though I've uninstalled/reinstalled every CC product including the loader app. Then there's an additional message, "An error occurred while processing the appearance of an object." It happens when switching out from outline mode, also when copying multiple items and then trying to paste them.
I am happy to share that we have fixed this bug in our latest release – 23.0.6 which is available worldwide now.
Going forward, our goal is to fix as many top User-Voice bugs as possible and as frequently as possible. Given the nature of the fixes, some of the bugs will take a longer time to fix, but we are on it.
You can update to the latest release using Creative Cloud desktop App: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/creative-cloud-updates.html
Thank you for all the feedback. Keep it coming!

Just got this issue on two different computers. They both seem to happen when I am trying to split a circle into 12 even pieces. Using Pathfinder: Divide.
It causes Illustrator to give me this error:"Operation cannot complete because of an unknown error. [PARM]"
… And it is followed by the next error message:
"An error occurred while processing the appearance of an object."I can choose "OK" to both of these messages but from this point, the object (circle) is "broken" and keep giving me the same error when want to edit it.

I am getting these same errors every time I open up certain files. The app immediately becomes unresponsive and I have to force quit to even close it. It doesn't even open up a crash report dialog afterwards.

Update: File was previously saved to CC, but I saved it to my desktop and now when I open it from there I get no error.

Just started getting this error on a file I work on both at work and at home. So far the problem is only at home but I will see tomorrow when I return to work. It happens upon opening the file, and it happens when I select a group and try to center to artboard both vertically and horizontally.

I have also been having this problem since March 20th, 2019. I have tried restarted my computer, restarted illustrator and updating/reinstalling the program.

I am having the same issue on windows 10, so it is not strictly a Mac issue. I am simply attempting a halftone effect on a large gradient (151"x180"). That is all I am doing; nothing else.

You are good at asking money to sent but not at fixing problems. Using illustrator for years not need new things not need updates. First make sure it works without problem before publishing it!!!!

Any fixes for this yet?

I'm managed to reproduce my error with fresh files, after completely removing the Appa and reinstalling it. :-(

I'm running El CApitan 10.11.6. It hasn't happened in several days. Maybe it was just a that file? Weird because it's just line drawings; nothing fancy and less than 2MB. There was a cloud library item that could have been the culprit, but I deleted it. I just opened that same file, it's still happening.

I just saw you use a Mac too, I wonder if it has anything to do with macOS High Sierra?
