There are now several separate requests made, based on the feedback in this thread:
1. Regarding adjustable color and opacity for 3D shadows:
https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/47054086
2. Regarding presets for each tab in 3D and Materials panels: Object, Materials, Lighting:

All those who commented on the topic until October 16, 2023, are already added as voters there. If this is something you want to have for 3D and Materials in Illustrator — please upvote it. If possible — create new requests and bug reports about 3D, rather than commenting here inside. This will help the team to better prioritize efforts on making the feature better. As always — thanks for the feedback! It helps.

The latest Beta Build 29.3.0.2 now offers a way to calculate the area, using the existing Measure Tool.
- Select the Measure Tool from the Toolbar.
- Click on a closed path to calculate its area (for now it has to have a fill, so the area is actually ink coverage)
- The calculated area will be displayed in the Info panel, shown automatically.
- To calculate the total area of multiple paths, hold Shift and click.
- Configure measurement options by accessing the flyout menu of the panel. You can customize units, precision, and scale to suit your requirements.
The team is looking forward to hear the feedback on this new feature — please try it out and make comments.
An error occurred while saving the comment Sketch commentedPlease add ability to calculate area of circle (in addition to the existing height/width). This will make it easier for users to create ACCURATE data visualizations/infographics!
This calculation should be included in Photoshop, InDesign, After Effects -- basically, any tool someone may want to use to create a data viz.

An error occurred while saving the comment Sketch commentedAlso -- looked into creating an Action in Ai ... over 9000% useless since you can't assign a shortcut other than a friggen function key.
An error occurred while saving the comment Sketch commentedMake Ai, Id, & Ps more consistent and more customizable. Especially concerning shortcuts and panel behavior.
* Why can I assign shortcuts to alignment tools in ID and Photoshop, but not AI?
* Why can I drag the hidden tools off onto their own mini panels in AI, but not PS or ID?
* And WHY, for the love of all that is Holy, in PS if I try to map Shift+Alt+E to Align Center (because this is how I have it in ID), PS tells me I HAVE to use Ctrl??? I don't WANT to use Ctrl -- I want it EXACTLY AS I HAVE IT IN ID!Most designers work in ALL THREE of these programs; it really sucks that we have to fight with garbage, inconsistent interface choices all the time. It's as though Adobe care as little as Microsoft do about user experience...

@Egor
Von Glitschka has this exact problem in his movie on custom brushes, uploaded 6/15/23.
First occurrence starts here https://youtu.be/4cKlzpiUySQ?t=815
It happens multiple times, going from <100% back to 100%
Another occurrence happens at https://youtu.be/4cKlzpiUySQ?t=908
This time it is going from 100% to <100%
He is using Mac, so maybe don't limit your testing to just one platform. :/
One more example from the same movie: https://youtu.be/4cKlzpiUySQ?t=975
Goes through 19:55 (as he also mentions another bug with gaussian blur you need to look into). He noticed that for this bug it seemed to possibly have something to do with how an object was selected.
