   Hi all,

   I've been receiving the same error message today, and it's incredibly frustrating. I don't have an answer, BUT the workaround I used today was to save the Illustrator file as a high quality PDF, then open that with Photoshop and save the file as a PNG, as originally intended. I hope this helps some of you, because I've been trying to find an actual answer all day!
