    Thanks for reporting the issue. We have tried the scenario and failed to reproduce it,it would be helpful if you could provide some more information-

    Is this happening on win 7 only?

    Have you tried cleaning the preferences and re launching the application?Does that solve the issue.

    Have you encountered this issue with the latest Illustrator build?

    I am experiencing this also on an iMac 27" 2009, using High Sierra with Illustrator 23.1.1. It just started doing this a couple of months ago (Sept. 2019). Super annoying. Have to quit AI and reopen.
