Agreed, this is a generic issue. I get the same notice when double clicking the scale button and typing in a percentage. I have image traced a hand illustration that I scanned in and converted. I made the drawing twice as large as I needed it knowing that once I scale it down, it will "sharpen" the image. I made all my adjustments, double clicked the scale box, typed in 50% and like Ray, got that message. The real issue is just in the dialog box scale method because I can single click the scale tool, hold down the shift button and resize the same group as small as I want. What happens to those objects then? Well, whatever happens then is what needs to happen in the dialog box method.
