210 votesThe fix to this problem is pushed into general release 29.6 — but the team needs a confirmation from us, since the nature of the bug is elusive. Please try to see if it still happens or not and comment back. Otherwise the team plans to close this report as resolved.

When creating artboards, doesn't matter if they are within a new file or existing, Illustrator skips 3, has two 5s, skips 7, has two 8s. Still happens when deleting/adding in the same file, or creating a new file.
