Select more than one layer at once
Okay if you have more than one layer...let's say 50 and I need to select 20 of them. Why can't someone select them with a single click instead of selecting every single layer? With shift selected I can mark more than one but they aren't selected. Same thing for sublayers and so on.
Hi Everyone, This feature has been available since August 2020 release (version 24.3). Please update to the latest release using Creative Cloud desktop App: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/creative-cloud-updates.html Thank you for all the feedback.
You can now select multiple layers in Layers panel. Click the bars (they get highlighted blue) if you want to operate layers and not their content (e.g. to drag to reorder) or click their markers to select their content — circle (target ones) or square (selection ones) next to them. There is no real difference which to pick, but if you want to select a range of layers, using Shift, use target markers.

Seems a little ridiculous this isn't available. There is a little box that the circle resides in to select the object and the layer. I'm no coder but I'm not paying enough to where if I click the circle and shift click another circle it can't select the layers and objects of those two and all in-between? I recognize there are other ways like moving the sub-layers to a new layer but this can really save me time including the time I've lost typing this message.

Yes this would be useful. It is something that you can do with Corel draw. I often find that I have files to deal with that contain many hundreds or even thousands if items on a layer, and before you can group them or move them to separate layers you need effective ways of selecting large numbers of them without having to click on each individual item one by one in the layers panel.

It is especially annoying when you are working with things like DWG objects or, for example, an inherited file from another designer with a million tiny (ungrouped) lines representing parking spaces.

We have the ability to click on one layer, hold shift and click on another layer to select all the layers in between. Just like in Photoshop and After Effects. What we need is the ability to do that to select not layers, but the objects themselves. Like clicking on the bullseye next to the layer to select the object, then Shift-Clicking on another object in order to select all of the layers in between.
I know this can easily be solved by just grouping those objects together and just selecting the group but sometimes I might not need the entire groups objects selected.

This is a feature that's sorely needed. In an earlier version of Illustrator (about 10 years ago?) , there was a way to select multiple (contiguous) layers in the Layers panel. I believe it was ALT/OPT and drag through the layer names.

This and selecting multiple objects in Layer panel could use some general improvements.
