In the latest Illustrator desktop Beta app, you should be able to type, copy-past, and edit Arabic text, in any language version of the app. You may need to turn ON Middle Eastern Features from Preferences > Type, if those are not ON already.

It works, but only with unnecessary workarounds and disadvantages.
