Display copies of links' duplicates as instances, like in InDesign
It would be nice if Illustrator's link panel was more link InDesign's in that it collapsed instances of the same linked file into an accordion. The user can then update multiple instances of a file to the same new link or link them individually to separate new links.

I am enjoying the new auto-linking functionality in illustrator, but seriously, why stop there? InDesign has perfected the link system. Let's make that universal! The accordion/instance function could be useful in both illustrator and photoshop, but i'll take the photoshop discussion to that forum. Let's be the united ecosystem we want to see in this world.

This would be awesome.
Sometimes I have to relink hundreds of .pdf links and I use a script for that. But if I need to relink my link to page 2 of the same .pdf, I cried a lot, because need to change every single link one by one. -

Allow multiple copies of the same linked image in the Links panel to collapse into groups, like collapsing a group of layers. Controls to expand/collapse all would be a bonus.

also, when links go missing it should retain the path where the original link was. baffling that illustrator's link panel is so much worse than indesign's.

and why it doesnt do this already is beyond me.. Im working with files where we have hundreds of links in them but only 12 or so individual files. this would be awesome to implement.
