Nested Text Styles
Provide for nested Character and Paragraph Styles in Illustrator. This is a staple in InDesign and would be very helpful in Illustrator. We have standardized on Illustrator for many templates in our workflow. In general, Illustrator is more appropriate, but text editing is a weak spot. This would help.

This is one of the reasons I always go back to ID for my work.l I tried using Illustrator but it is just too frustrating!

Absolutely agree. The current paragraph and character styles are not a very useful feature because of this. Any Web browser can understand a CSS style that simply applies a font color using a <span> tag, but Illustrator character styles add a lot of basic stuff that make the feature behave as a bug.

In InDesign, I can simply design a paragraph using a paragraph style and then apply deviations (such as bolding) via a character style, because I can create a paragraph style that contains the sole information "style: bold". So that when I change the font in the paragraph style, the character style will simply apply the bolding to the new font.
In Illustrator, however, I need to select a font for the character style before I can select the style. This means that if I change the font in the paragraph style, I would also have to update it in the character style. Which makes the character style somewhat useless.
