Add a button to save document presets like Photoshop has
Photoshop has a button to save presets when you create a new document. I love that feature makes my job easier, I wish Illustrator had that same button instead of having to save the files as templates. So much simpler and faster with the button right there.
Saving custom presets is now available in BETA starting V28.6.578.
With this new change, you can now configure your own document preset and save it for later use. To access this functionality, configure your preset from the File > New dialog (only for the modern one, the legacy dialog don’t provide it) and click the Save Preset button next to the document’s name in the top right corner of the dialog.
Your custom preset is now saved and accessible from the 'Saved' category.
Please try out this feature, so that if there are any feedback from you, we can resolve them and make this feature available to everyone.

I would like to be able to save my templates altogether in the saved folder when I make a new document, this would make my life so much easier and make illustrator a much more valuable program for architecture visualization

THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT FEATURES that must be added!
@admin
Kindly note the feature has been requested since 2018! -

I think it would greatly increase workflow to give the user the ability to set up custom blank document preset tabs on the New Document screen and then allowing the user to save their template/s of choice under their new tab.
As an example, I am constantly using the same templates in my company, so having the ability to create a preset tab where I could see only the presets/templates I use for that would be awesome. And then I could have another tab devoted to just my personal presets/templates, without having to navigate to the templates folder. -

Is it possible to let us create personalized tabs in the new document window (beside recent, saved, mobile, web, print, film&video, art&illustratio) and let us create custom templates that we can save under those tabs. Also those templates to be saved on creative cloud so we can access them from multiple PC trough our account?
It will speed up our workflow and save a lot of time. Less file management and more focusing on our work

Add a button to add a preset or save presets, that would save in the right folder without have to navigate deep in Windows Explorer.
I used to have it working on my PC, but because I tried to revert to a previous version of Illustrator, it is not working anymore and it's frustrating that I have to troubleshoot something that should be simple and easy because it help a LOT to speed up workflow.
Please consider this feature!!

I work at a state university in the US. I don't have control over my permissions on my machine. I don't have admin privileges. I can't access the folder necessary to do the workaround. InDesign and Photoshop both have a button next to the document title field you can click to make a preset instantly. I don't understand how this doesn't have more votes either. It's so simple and useful.

Yes definitely. It seems like such a simple and essential feature I don't understand why it isn't already part of Illustrator.

It's baffling that Illustrator has no way to let us save our own presets in its "fancy" and "new" New Document interface. I, as a designer, know far better than anyone else what settings I regularly need for new documents..
As it is, I either have to re-enter the dimensions, color settings, etc. every time I want a specific layout, OR I have to go digging through my files for my custom templates.
Just let me save my **** presets, Adobe. Why is this so hard?

Would love this as well. The ui is very similar so I was surprised to see Photoshop have this and yet illustrator has this simple functionality missing.

I think that the button to save an template how it works in photoshop is missing. And i hope that she comes... Finally, the rubric "saved" already exists.
The screenshot is from Photoshop.
