Align multiple icons to the center of multiple artboards
I want to align multiple icons to the center of pre-existing artboards. I don't want to have to hand select each icon and align horizontally and vertically to every single artboard.

Chel, you can achieve this using symbols (the closest thing Ai has to parent pages in InDesign).
If you create an artboard-sized rectangle (or slightly larger, to solve the problem of slightly off-artboard elements), convert it to a symbol, place it on each artboard you need and then edit it — this would result in the same exact behavior you need.
Symbols do have some limitations, specifically with images — but links are handles more or less fine externally.
Does this method make any sense to you? Please comment. -

Came here to ask for this, in particular I had the thought that it would be great to have a way to select a certain artboard as the "Source" artboard or the "template" artboard. Somehow it can treat all the design elements on that artboard as the original 'linked' design elements. So if you were to copy and paste, say, a bit of text or a shape from that source artboard to another artboard, it would paste in the exact same position as the elemnent on that source artboard. And that way, whereever you move the source design element, it would replicate the exact same position on any other artboards that you have pasted that source design element to.
This feature would be SO HELPFUL for when I'm working with the same design across multiple artboards, where the only variant is something small.

I created the free AlignToArtboards script for this purpose:
https://github.com/creold/illustrator-scripts/blob/master/md/Item.md#aligntoartboards
The script allows you to align selected objects to their parent artboards.(Edited by admin) -

There is still no solution to this. I have this issue as well. It's very time consuming to have to manually align to center each board.
