Create Tables
Create tables by anyway, it shouldn't have much options, such a simple table (simple borders), instead i have to draw lines to get a view of table.

@David, I love this 'lack of training' guess. Indeed, ignorance is our worst enemy. I don’t think I knew about the roots for tables in InD... quick search reveals that there were TableStyles and CellStyles plugins for InDesign CS. According to CreativePro, in 2007 they sold it to Adobe, and were selling separate plugins for CS and CS2...
And I agree some basic functions (basic for those who often use tables) are missing. Even with an army of plugins and scripts.
In Ai though we have to mimic tables with threaded text, columns... and again, a ton of scripts. -

@Egor--Not to get off topic from tables in Illustrator, I read the posts about InDesign's tables and feel that the "new features" requested for InDesign are based on lack of training. (That's not to say they couldn't use some additional features...)
Illustrator tables could be similar/identical to InDesign's or perhaps a little similar (like Words) since they usually not on multiple pages (artboards). Much like InDesign tables prior to CS3.
As a note of interest, InDesign's tables originally came from Teacup Software's third party plugins. (I assume they purchased the rights from them for CS3.)

@Derek Watson You should post in the InDesign UserVoice if you haven't already. Out of curiousity, what new features would you like to see?

Can the table functionality from InDesign be added to Illustrator?
I am a graphic designer that works with dietary supplements, and while Illustrator is perfect for designing our labels for print, it is less than ideal for creating supplement facts boxes.
In InDesign, I have created a product catalog where I used the table function to make a stylized (not FDA compliant) table with supplement facts information and it worked so well, but that function is not available in Illustrator. In Illustrator, I have to create a different text box for each column and fiddle with the paragraph styles (which aren't as good in Illustrator as InDesign (understandable, but still)) and spacing to get the proper layout of a table, AND THEN add individual lines one-by-one.
I think I could make a full FDA compliant supplement facts box using InDesign's table function, but it is not practical to make it in InDesign then paste to Illustrator because it's inefficient, and not to mention that Adobe applications don't like to copy and paste between themselves for some reason. I also do not want to make it on InDesign, then export as a png and place the png, I don't see any reason why I shouldn't be able to do it all in Illustrator, especially since paragraph styles are in Illustrator.
I also think this function would make sense to be in Illustrator for people that may be using it to make infographics that have no reason to have InDesign. I also do not see this as a feature that could cannibalize InDesign usage because the programs are meant for quite different purposes, with only some overlap.

Please update a feature in which we can make tables easily in Illustrator as you have provided us in Indesign. Right now this is the toughest part for me being a designer.

IllustratorもそろそろInDesignのようなテーブル組(表組)ができるようにして欲しい。グラフ用にエクセルなどの表組みデータを読み込むことはできるに、そのまま表にできないのは非常に不便。

There is a great script that allows to create table from CSV files, but it’s a workaround (a handy one).

I wish there was an easy tabling tool in illustrator (similar to Power Point, Word Doc, and of course, Excel). This would be perfect for me whenever I make hours of operation signs, calendars, bingo cards, etc.

Both InDesign and Powerpoint have simple table builders that are very easy to use and modify. In Illustrator any text table you create has to be made and modified manually, which is very time-consuming and difficult to maintain look and feel over several different documents.

Tables & 'Fit frame to content' option like there is in In Design

YES PLEASE!!!
This is something that has been in the back of my mind for a number of years, if those options are already available in InDesign, why can that be transported over to Illustrator??
Full feature editing for the appearance of the table will be ideal!!Keep up the fantastic work!

It would be nice if you could make a table grid like Indesign does. Works faster and easier than in Illustrator.
