    Local links package fine but NAS files do not without a warning

  6. Please make the slicing more like Fireworks with naming and sizes individual for each artboad (like stages/pages in Fireworks).

    Having had to slice up an Illustrator file this week, it’s so frustrating how basic the tool/process is with no control over resolution/size.

    I had to bring the file into Photoshop and do it from there, still not as good as Fireworks which was intuitive and flexible.

    A hot key or always visible button the the control bar would make this ideal.
    I found myself going back and forth to preferences to switch on and off.

    Starting with Beta 29.9.0.36 it’s now possible to lock the objects on artboard basis from the Artboards panel, using a new Lock column, similar to one the Layers panel has.

    How it works:

    • In the Artboards panel, select one or more artboards and click Lock.
    • All objects on those artboards lock automatically.
    • To edit a specific object, simply unlock it from the Layers panel.

    I would find this useful when sharing files for client review or by PDF, hiding any 'development' artboards.

    By locking artboards, select all then doesn't become an issue.

    Starting with Beta 29.7.1 the Rearrange dialog got a separate dedicated feature, currently called 'Align Manually'.

    With it disabled, artboards get positioned instantly in the center of the canvas, as it behaved previously.

    When this is enabled, you will enter the positioning mode after pressing OK — to allow rearranging only some artboards, to address this request.

    With more than 1 artboard selected (but not all), the mode gets enabled automatically (and becomes locked).

    The main issue I had was that the boards were not re-arranging due to there not being enough space when clicked. Zooming right out to see the are needed worked but this needs to made clearer as to why it isn’t working.

    I agree, it’s not intuitive now and click the wrong way and no arrangement happens!

    I like the idea and how some of it works but the actual rearrangement needs fixed.

    The way XD does this is so much simpler.

    In the latest BETA 30.0.21, we’ve improved the ‘Save As’ workflow.

    Now, instead of remembering the last used format, the default will always be .AI.

    We made this change to ensure that your files are consistently saved in the native Illustrator format, which is the most reliable option for preserving full editability.

    Please try out he changes by downloading the latest BETA from the Creative Cloud and let us know if it helps you or not.

    Please share your thoughts on the following:

    1. Would it make sense to have a separate desktop app, just to create charts, and bring them inside Illustrator or InDesign? It may not be on cloud.

    2. Or would you rather have us work on building it within Illustrator?

    I would like it to be an enhancement of the tools within illustrator.

    Enable more customisation so you do not have to break apart.
    Better connection/creation form spreadsheet or live data.
    Live effects or connection to Appearance Panel.

    Basically simpler to use
