Insert a new artboard in a specific order position
I usually work with a lot of artboards around 100 per file.
I would like the possibility to enter the number of the position of the artboard!
The problem consist when I have a lot or artboards and I create a new one it is the last in artboard panel. Then I need to drag it up to the preferred order position. If it needs to be in the third place I need a lot of scrolling up!

The added artboard should be placed after the designated artboard. When there is insufficient space, the artboard should be moved backwards in sequence.

This may have already been suggested but I couldn't find it...
I would like to see new/duplicated artboard appear after the last artboard, rather than at the end of the first row. Or an option to put it before or after a specific artboard, which then rearranges all the other artboards (and the art on them). The way it is now, I have to rearrange artboards after I make/duplicate to get the new one to show in the right order (which is usually at the end, but not always).
In the attached image, artboards 5, 6, 7 were either duplicated or add new, but they always show up there, and then I have to rearrange.

Artboards are not pages. Sure, they can be used as such, and we all do this, but in fact they are generally 'viewports', virtual frames. Unlike pages in InDesign (which are real pages), in Illustrator artboards can overlap, be nested, and one path can be a child of many artboards at the same time.
It’d be hard for a team to come up with a solid solution which work with all cases artboards can be used for... and supposedly they avoid making a narrow solution which limits the usage of artboards as pages only. However, there are some workarounds we can use.
I prefer this one:

I can't add a artboard between 2 artboards if I need to add an artboard in between artboard 9 and artboard 10

1 and 3 — yes. We all need to be able to assign a hotkey to any command in Illustrator.
2 — it’s not that easy.
Artboards in Illustrator are more than pages. While some use them as pages and expect the same functionality InDesign has, they are also viewports, a way to isolate parts of the artwork. It is used widely by cartographers, in advertisement, in explorations...
Take a look at the image. Where should Ai add an artboard, if I have the third one active? They all have different sizes, locations, they are placed inside one another... No Sensei could guess where to put one, there is not way to rearrange these even, because they share same artwork (not shown). However, this is a problem we have. When artboards are used as pages, a way to insert one between existing, or swap two, or even move several artboards is complicated, and the team should provide methods to solve these, from the box.
Let’s discuss it here. -

For a long time I have been creating presentations in Adobe InDesign, however I have recently moved to creating presentations in Illustrator because of the greater flexibility with page layout.
In Illustrator you’re able to create a presentation for example 5x5 1920x1080, zoom out and see all the artboards. This is really good to zoom out and see everything at a glance.
The issues comes when you want to add and manage artboards. If I select the second artboard and add an artboard, it places it at the end of the presentation or the current row, in order to set this straight I have to manually go to rearrange and click this.
During the process of a precession I will be adding and removing pages constantly and frequently. The process of having to constantly manually add one by clicking a button and then having to rearrange them is quiet time consuming overall.
So the request is this:
1 - If I select a page in my document, can you add a shortcut to quickly ‘add a new artboard’.
2 - When that artboard is added, can it be added directly in it’s intended place where requested so you do not have to go to rearrange artboards each time.
3 - Alternatively can there be a shortcut for ‘Rearrange artboards’ to save time.
Thank you

As someone who uses Illustrator to design much of my artwork for animation in After Effects there's one tool that I find I constantly need and instead just muddle through manually cutting, copying and pasting.
It'd be great to have a tool in AI that would insert a new Artboard between say frames 9 and 10, and then move all the artwork from frame 10 on up to the next artboards (frames 11, 12, 13, 14, etc.) I think of like a ripple edit tool. You can insert or delete a frame (artboard) and the artwork on all the artboards following your edit moves to fill the gap. It'd be great for working on sequential art where you constantly need to create a new frame in between existing artwork and then need to shuffle all the following artwork back or forward to keep it in sequence.
Thanks!
