Curve length, area, perimeter measurements for Dimension tool
We need a way to measure the length of a line regardless of shape, but at minimum we need a way to measure a basic curved line. It would be especially helpful if we could use the measure tool or some time-saving variant to tell if a curve has the desired length. While we can do a workaround now using the Document Info panel, having to isolate lines in order to do so can get really cumbersome and tedious.
The team has started working on this request. As a first step they want to understand the requirements correctly and build the right feature set based on the feedback gathered.

I would like that the developers team at Adobe will work on the dimension tool in Adobe Illustrator by adding an important feature of measuring the circumference of circle in the coming updates...

Unfortunately, the scripts from technical illustrators does not work in illustrator 2023. :( I am hoping adobe will create a measurement tool for curves.

I would be interested in a script for measuring curves also. Please post how we would accomplish that.

I am a sewing pattern drafter and I wish there were a tool that would measure around curves from point to point. For example, to measure the length of an armhole which is a curve.

Hi Egor, I use the document info panel as a workaround now. I was just hoping there was some way to measure a curve without having to cut the shape apart first. (Similar to measuring with the measure tool). I'll check out the scripts you mentioned as well as the plugin. Thanks!

Renae, nope, I don't know a way to measure a part of a curved line, except making a duplicate of the line and cutting the excesses where you need. You have to define a portion anyway, right?
If you don’t like scripts, you can view the length in Document Info panel. This and other solutions are listed here: https://community.adobe.com/t5/illustrator-discussions/measure-the-length-of-a-path-in-illustrator/td-p/4526937
Some links to scripts are there too, and some you can find elsewhere, like https://technicalillustrators.org/2010/04/path-area-and-perimeter-in-illustrator/
Also, you can use Dynamic Measure from Astute Graphics plugin pack, it makes it more intuitive.

Hi Egor,
If I could find such a script, it would speed up the process, but I'm not sure it would do exactly what I need. I already have a way to get some of the info via the document info panel, but part of my problem is a need to measure a part of a curved line, not the entire thing. I'm also not aware of scripts within AI that would allow me to measure a portion of a curved line. Do you recommend any specific one?

Renae, there are scripts for that. You can record an action using one and bind it to a hotkey to quickly call it when needed. Will that suffice?
