I export hundreds of individual files a day. Each to their own folder. Each time I have to reselect the format (Esko PDF) away from PNG (I mean... PNG as default?!)
I just want to be able to set a default or at least have Illustrator remember the last export format and keep it.

Tyler, yes. Currently Export As format stays sticky in one session across documents opened, but doesn't stay sticky across different app sessions.
The team is evaluating the fix and will let us all know how and when they will ship it.

Hello, should I submit an idea to change default format in Export As to any format we need instead (PNG) current?
I do a lot for export PDF every day and every time, I set an action for this, but the problem is with local save for one project.

From MY point of view, I would only need PDF. Ever.
I can think of other use cases, where PNG would be the preferred one.
And then again others, where it changes, what it should be exported to.

So I can only offer my wish to have it either be a setting that _I_ always have PDF as the first selected, or to (maybe choose or have it as default) have the last selected be the one that shows up the next time, regardles of same session or restart.

Why is PNG the default one (it IS the default one for sure now) in the first place? Obviously not for alphabetical reasons. So there has been a thought process to have it this way, and I want to have everyone rethink this process and make it even more usable to all.

Not sure if this behavior should be made in an option though... if people prefer PNG, this should stay then if they choose PNG once... I wonder if there can be any benefit in defaulting it I can’t imagine?

Currently Export As remembers the chosen file format only until the app is relaunched.
This choice should be sticky. That is, if we export as PDF, this should stay chosen next time Illustrator is launched.
Currently it gets defaulted to PNG, and choosing a required format each time feels tedious and unnecessary.

I did not know AI allows us to assign custom hotkeys. Game changer.

I would also like the ability to set the export file time to default to .dxf instead of .png. if possible.

Steve, Ai allows to assign a custom hotkey to a majority of menu commands, including Export As.
But you mean you want to call for the Export As AND to automatically choose some other filetype, is it correct?
