Image Trace halftone
Image Trace should recognize halftone and implement as 4 node circles.

2025 trace is less accurate than 2024.
With the default settings 2024 has 4 anchor points to make it look like a circle while 2025 creates blobs with 2 anchor points. -

Also it could be a half tone aware brush that you sweep over a traced area that converts the selected area into perfect dots or even random Mezzotint or stipple effect. I realise that the complexity will make a file bigger, but hey new chips are faster too.

The image seems to be missing. Perhaps UV’s security system dropped it :( Can you try anew, please? Or upload it someplace else and share a link to it?

Here is an attached instance where I may use half tone for an effect. After I trace the you can see that the vectors are all over the place. Even if the trace recognised the dots and transformed them into circles in diminishing increments.

Could you perhaps share a sample image of the desired output so we can review it?

Yes Halftone. Say Ive created a poster with a Screen printed look - lets say with a 50lpi screen effect in photoshop and I may want to vectorise the image in Illustrator. I want the trace function to realise halftone and create correct halftone either real editable circles. Another use would be if I created a brush effect for behind a header or logo, I may need to vectorise it as a halftone to prepare it for a client so it is as editable as possible. I wouldn't expect this would work for massive tonal areas because of the complexity but for smaller areas this would make an awesome feature.
I hope that explains it.

By 'dot tone' you mean printed color halftone?
