More intelligent document setup
When starting a new document, color mode RGB, for some reason, the swatches palette is populated with CMYK swatches, and the Black swatch is not 0,0,0. Please make this more relevant: When RGB is chosen, the user wants Black to be RGB Black.
Also, let the user choose a background color to represent Alpha (just like After Effects does), or two checkerboard colors.

Changing a color mode does NOT mean choosing the corresponding set of presets. These are defined by the Document Profile used.
If you picked a document size based on a Print-based profile — Illustrator would warn you about the mismatch, right in the dialog, just above OK button, with the ⚠️ icon, saying exactly what would happen: your Print-based CMYK Black would be converted to your forced RGB.
Use Print-specific presets to create the document. In the modern File > New dialog these are the top row categories. In the classic New Document these are presented with the very first drop-down.Ai can’t really decouple presets from the color mode — it would break many established workflows.
While the idea of 'oh, the user picked CMYK! I guess it means they need a Print profile' (like Affinity does) seems smart, it’s not.
In Ai these document profiles are not only about the color mode, but also units, styles, safe frames, etc.It’s a problem — with the New Document redesigned, the users lost the concept of the Document Profile.
...but I personally think it should be fixed with a better UI and education, instead of one more 'smart' guess forced on users. This won’t help newbies much (adding to the complicacy), but harm pros, who often need a CMYK document (with the units, presets, etc.) but in RGB color mode though (because of fluorescent Pantones or similar things).
