There are now several separate requests made, based on the feedback in this thread:
1. Regarding adjustable color and opacity for 3D shadows:
https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/47054086
2. Regarding presets for each tab in 3D and Materials panels: Object, Materials, Lighting:

All those who commented on the topic until October 16, 2023, are already added as voters there. If this is something you want to have for 3D and Materials in Illustrator — please upvote it. If possible — create new requests and bug reports about 3D, rather than commenting here inside. This will help the team to better prioritize efforts on making the feature better. As always — thanks for the feedback! It helps.

-Create a text
-Create Outlines (cmd-shift-o)
-Choose 3D and Materials / Extrude & Bevel, keep the Default setting
-In the 3D and Material Panels, choose ‘Quick and ‘Expand as wireframes’
-Zoom in on curves of the created ‘wireframe’ and see how those of the extrusion don’t match those of the caps.
(pic 1)Do the same with Classic 3d and Object / Expand appearance, and see how the result perfectly matches. (pic 2)
An error occurred while saving the comment Jan Vork commentedPlease make it as accurate as the legacy effect.
The new 'improved' effects' results have a lot of abberations in the paths.
An error occurred while saving the comment Jan Vork commentedPlease make Expand work for these, just like for any other object in Illustrator.
An error occurred while saving the comment Jan Vork commentedI would like to expand 3d Extrudes as they look, just like in older versions was possible.
Not 'as wireframes'. -

An error occurred while saving the comment Jan Vork commentedWhen making a detailed slection of corner widgets, to set all to a certain value, Ai looses the selection when the Hand Tool is used. Why not make this proces more Adobe Illustrator-style anyway: select Anchor Points with the direct selection tool, double click one of the Corner Widgets, set a value for all selected corners. Done. Intuitive and fast.

Ai looses the selection when the Hand Tool is used. Why not make this more easy anyway: let us select Anchor Points with the direct selection tool and then double click one of the Corner Tools to set 'm all to a value. More Adobe Illustrator-style workflow imho.

An error occurred while saving the comment Jan Vork commentedI would like to be able to select one or multiple Swatches in the Swatches palette, and then let Illustrator select all Objects that are colored with this particular Swatche(es).
In this way, I can replace e.g. multiple green swatches by one green swatch.

An error occurred while saving the comment Jan Vork commentedIn the New Document dialog, 'Preset' and 'Template' are used as if those where synonyms.
'Browse Presets' and 'Find more Templates'
Guess this dialog is mainly a marketing tool to sell more prefab design stuff. For power users, it is just annoying imho.
An error occurred while saving the comment Jan Vork commentedVery confusing indeed, to save a preset from the new file dialog.
What are we saving? The currently opened document? The highlighted preset (which obiously has been saved previously). I still plea for a Save preset option. In the File menu. Don't care how this is working behind the UI, as long as it migrates along with software updates.@Egor - can you explain how to save a Preset from my own modified document?
(More specific: I like to save a preset for 1920x1080 px, RGB, without the ridiculous video rulers and the obsolet safe area clutter, and without the transparency grid visible - preferrably with a black background an 16 bits color, just like all video apps - but that is another request)Jan Vork shared this idea · -

An error occurred while saving the comment Jan Vork commentedExactly - it should just be an option.
The Edit Toolbar panel is not clickable to select tools - that would be a nice workaround.
Currently it just hilites the tool icon where the tool we need is hiding.(The customization is not as intuitive as we might expect anyway - why not make the icons draggable instantly - what can be the problem with that? Let us drag 'm somewhere to create a new temporary tool panel - just like in Cinema 4d every menu is draggable to keep it visible)

An error occurred while saving the comment Jan Vork commentedThis is such a basic need.
An error occurred while saving the comment Jan Vork commentedWhen dragging a guide from the rulers, please show the exact position numerically.
It's not accurate to watch the ruler to determine the position.

An error occurred while saving the comment Jan Vork commentedWhen in full screen mode, on MacOS, the top bar shows 'Adobe Illustrator 2024', and nothing else. I would like it to reflect the filename of the active file as well

I would like to see more vector style 3d-effects: long shadows, isometry, graphical projections, solid shadows, all things we can't do with 3d-software.
All the pixel / 3d rendering / material effects are better done in specialized software, such as Cinema4D or Substance. Ai is the goto vector drawing program, so please keep it vectorish in the first place. (btw, I loved Adobe Dimensions [with an S, hard to find any information on that thing] - bring that back within Illustrator)
To bring a complete 3d-rendering system in Ai is a dead end. See how even Photoshop failed with that.
