Layers panel dimensions dynamically resize, or have tools cling to bottom of layers list
When I open a layer, the layer list is quite long so I need a tall panel. However when they're collapsed it's a much shorter list and suddenly the trashcan button is super far away from where I'm working in the layers. It would be nice if the panel automatically resized to keep the toolbar near the list, or otherwise have the toolbar cling to the bottom of the layers list so it's easily accessible when working in that panel. Colour Book/Pantone Swatches to remain in Custom Workspaces
Hi - is there a way to have custom colour books/Pantone swatches to save in a custom Workspace? I have to keep adding them again each time I restart Illustrator, and it's a bit of a pain! Thanks!

STOP to change interface items and options possition everytime. I need to have my tools everytime in the same place, for the rest of my life, that's effective and productive. is a waste of time and energy to be looking everytime where this morning design team have put some tools and items in the interface. Please think in the proffesional peopple. Do not change possition of the items in the interface.

Ignore commas in graph data
I create regional reports with a lot of data visualization, so I copy and paste from excel and google sheets all the time. The amount of time I spend removing commas from each number over 999 while creating graphs is wild. I'm working on finding better workflows for this, but if you could just make commas invisible or intelligible to the data window in Illustrator, I would be so happy!

Cloud file Versioning
I know this would be a huge lift, but cloud file versioning would be great. Beyond the obvious workflow advantages, it could facilitate working with cloud documents offline and syncing later without risking clobbering what's in there or attempting any sort of complex and error-prone diffing process.

integrate settings between Rosetta based release version and beta/prerelease
I need to switch between rosetta illustrator (for Astute Graphics plugins) and the beta native version.
Is it possible for them to share settings, or alternatively, would that be a workable feature?

When a Symbol is created, it defaults to 'Movie Clip'.

Please add legacy menus and tools as a workspace
Please, please add legacy menus and tools as an option for a workspace. I have been using AI 3 for years on my old G5 and recently went to a new iMac and bought the full line monthly for all Adobe programs. Acrobat is so much better, PS is tolerable, but AI is near impossible! Everything has moved, the tools react differently and I'm having a heck of a time trying to find everything! Page setup is gone, I do a lot of Image Tracing (all the way back to when you needed that extra program to do it!) and…

Show Contentpreview in hidden layers
When you hide a layer, the contentpreview in the little square in the Layers Panel is hidden. Finding a specific layer is terrible when it’s hidden (you only see the layers name).
That makes absolutely no sense to me and has no benefit that I can think of, to the contrary.
Please make it at least an option, or just make the Layerpreview always visible. I can see that it’s hidden when I see the eye canceled on the right, no need for more indication that its hidden.

Keyboard shortcut to invoke the search box under the Help menu
I swear there used to be a keyboard shortcut to do this. Given the relative complexity of Illustrator, I rely on search to locate less frequently performed actions. I currently navigate by mouse up to the Help menu (which automatically gives the Search field focus), where I type in the first few characters of the action I wish to perform (results are refined as I type in more characters); this way, I can simply select the action I want right from the Help menu. It would be great if I could forego the mouse entirely and invoke that Help menu…
1 voteYou definitely can assign a hotkey for Discover, using Keyboard Shortcuts dialog, in Menu Commands.
The problem though it’s named as 'Illustrator Help' there, not 'Discover'. By default it uses F1.

Cursor at the end of document name field during "Save as"
When you "Save as," the cursor automatically appears at the end of the document name in the document name field - i.e. right after the file name extension. I never need to edit the file name extension, as I can do that in the dropdown menu, but I DO need to edit the name of the document. This, combined with the fact that there's now a lag of a few seconds before you can type in the document name field (submitted in separate comment), is making saving different versions of the same file veeeery annoying.

Libraries panel background
Can we stop changing the look of the Libraries panel.?!?!?

Select all the value at once
Is it possible when clicking on a value such the shape, dimensions or text height etc. to select all the value so it can be replaced faster. Right now I have to delete the values number by number or select all with Ctrl-A then delete.
It would be appreciated if you have the option to select all when clicking on it.
It will save a lot of time.

Each item in the document to have its own persistent history
Linear document history seems very dated considering how much ram computers have these days, a hierarchical multi-dimensional object oriented history seems like a good idea. It would be amazing if I could choose to access the history of each item in the layers panel. it might work similar to file versioning solutions like GIT.
This history could be optionally saved into the file or cloud library so it can be accessed across sessions.

protect against accidental micro-adjustments during object selection
There are many times, most often while I am either double clicking to get into isolation mode, or selecting a layer as I am moving the mouse, where I accidentally move the object I clicked on a tiny bit, this becomes a problem on some pieces of artwork where math and/or high level accuracy are involved, and the adjustments are so minimal that they aren't noticed until its too late to undo.
It would be really cool if illustrator somehow detected or prevented against accidental unwanted adjustments. the idea occurred to me after seeing my phone attempt to block accidental…

Modifier key on apple pencil
It would be nice if on the apple pencil you could assign the Modifier circle to the Double tap button on the Apple pencil.

your default workspace is completely off point of the tools illustrators need close at hand
hey, folks, I've been using Illustrator continuously (and intensely) since 1987. Every time I make a transition to a new Mac and load a fresh copy of the Creative Suite, I'm frustrated by the task of rebuilding the essential palette of tools that need to be close at hand in Illy for max productivity — color, stroke, character, align + pathfinder, layers . . . your out-of-the-box defaults have it all wrong. Makes me wonder: do any of you people actually use this product for making stuff in the day to day? And good god, please stop with the scrubby…
