2. Add an ON/OFF toggle button in the Artboards panel to enable/disable “Paste on Selected Artboards”

   Since Illustrator 29.6, Paste in Front / Paste in Back / Paste in Place now pastes to all currently selected artboards. While this is a useful feature, it introduces a hidden prerequisite — the artboard selection state — that causes unexpected behavior in everyday workflows.

   Problems

   1. When zoomed in, other artboards move off-screen, making their selection state visually undetectable. The only way to check which artboards are selected is to open the Artboards panel — an extra step that interrupts the workflow every time before pasting.
   2. If multiple artboards are unintentionally left selected (e.g., after using the Artboard tool), paste operations silently affect more artboards than intended.
   3. There is no scripting API to get or set the artboard selection state, causing ExtendScript and AppleScript workflows that include paste operations to behave incorrectly.

   Proposed solution

   Add a toggle button directly in the Artboards panel to turn “Paste on Selected Artboards” on or off. This makes the current mode immediately visible in context, allows switching without opening Preferences, and gives scripters a reliable way to disable the feature before running automated paste operations.

   This would be consistent with similar per-panel toggles elsewhere in Illustrator, and allows the new feature to coexist with existing workflows.

   提案

   アートボードパネルに「選択したアートボードにペースト」のON/OFFトグルボタンを追加してください。現在のモードをその場で確認・切り替えでき、環境設定を開く必要もありません。スクリプト実行前に手動でオフにするといった運用も可能になります。

   Illustrator内の他のパネルにある同様のトグル操作と一貫性があり、新機能と既存ワークフローの共存を実現できます。

4. Saving custom templates/workspaces that SAVE BRUSHES + SWATCHES WE HAVE CUSTOMIZED

   At the moment, anytime I create a new document I have to re-load in my customized brushes and swatch workspace. There is no ability to save a custom workspace with the brushes+swatches how I want it. I also cannot do this via saving a custom template, which seems like the logical thing to do.

   It's such a small thing, but it's a bit silly that I have to dig through my desktop files anytime I need my own brushes/saved swatches/saved template. I'm a professional who sends off custom files over to factories all the time and it slows me down quite a bit. I have to go in and delete all the unneeded brushes/swatches and load in my own every single time. Thanks! <3

5. White Canvas with Artboard Tool

   The Canvas is turning white every time I use the Artboard tool. Please remove this feature and leave the original Canvas colour. I use the Artboard tool very often, and the Canvas is turning white every time, making my screen flash from grey to white. This is bad for the eyes.

   This got solved with enabling the 'Fade region outside Artboard' back in the Artboard Options dialog.

6. An ability to enlarge panels on mouse hover to have larger controls (dynamic and local UI scaling)

   Using a 4k screen I find the palette to be small, and I struggle seeing them detailed especially when it comes to gradients.
   It would be handy to have a feature to enlarge the palette when the mouse hovers on it. Potentially deciding on to which palette activate this. Like for me I'd like to activate it only on the gradient, swatches and colors palette. Maybe a temporary shortcut to press while hovering onto the palette. Thanks.

   Also having a better color picker on the color palette would be nice.

7. Transparency Panel - Mask Mode Overlay

   When you enter the "Mask mode" in the Transparency Panel when adding a mask to an object. The background should switch colors or an outline around the artboard, similar to "isolated mode". To indicate that you're in that mode, right now you can click around thinking you're in that mode and not realize you have to switch back to normal mode by unclicking the mask.

8. Please fix the tutorial pop up, it is too sensitive and it doesn't disappear by itself. More I work on it, the more annoying it becomes.

    The problem got solved with toggling the 'Reduce transparency' option.

11. Please bring back the search function for "Shared with you" files in Adobe Illustrator 2026

    My team uses the Adobe cloud to store and share files across the team. Looking up for older files shared is now very inconvenient as the search function for "Shared with you" files in Adobe Illustrator 2026 has been removed.

    Please bring it back.

12. Artboards panel scrolls too fast when using touchpad / trackpad

    The fact that we have to test our timing when dragging the artboards to organize them in the Artboards panel is silly. I spent a whole minute trying to arrange the artboards for the storyboard with the trackpad. They should make the scrolling animation slower.

13. Update / Preview Grid on canvas when the grid and Constrain Angle values change in Preferences, before hitting OK

    I use grids all the time and I have to change the grid settings to fit my tasks regularly.
    When I do this, the rendered grid updates only when I hit OK, and it makes choosing the step less convenient — if I’m not happy with the resulting grid cell size, I’d have to open Prefs one more, navigate to the section, try again.
    Same goes with Constrain Angle — changing it won’t make the grid rotate until OK is hit.
    Sure, it’d need a Preview option, to fit the way it works in other dialogs, enabled by default.

14. Allow to disable Rich Tool Tips right from the rich tool tips

    'How to hide these popups for tools?' is one of the most common questions I see here and there (the most popular being 'how to show the resizing frame back?').
    The answer is 'disable Show Rich Tool Tips in Preferences > General', but it requires knowledge, and Ai never directs new users there.

    What if we could just CLOSE one or all hints right there, in a hint itself?

    There’s no automated condition Illustrator follows for this, we decide ourselves when to turn these off.

    We can hide these hints by disabling the Show Rich Tool Tips option in the Preferences > General.

16. Change layer thumbnail background so white objects are visible in the Layers panel

    Currently, I'm working with white text for a logo design and because the layer thumbnail background is white and the text is also white, it is impossible to see what objects are in my Layers. Illustrator for ipad already has this feature, so why isn't it in desktop?

17. Default Sort

    Allow users to define what they want to see on the home page, and allow defaults to that definition to be saved. For example, in Version 29, when I open the program, it defaults to "Your Files" and they are sorted by "Name". Whenever I open the program, that's what shows. It's perfect for me. In Version 30, now that doesn't work. It opens to "Recent Files" and then I have to click "your Files" or "View All Files" for that to show. Then I have to click on the sort (because some genius changed the default to in the update) and then click on sort and sort it by name. My workflow is by name of file, and not by time or date modified. It used to work in every single version like this and now it doesn't. Please fix this.

18. Make UI text size scalable

    Allow for scaling of text in the UI, especially the Layers panel.
    I have to strain to read the layer descriptions. Since I work a lot in After Effects I have to name all my layers. It would be easier to work if I could just glance over instead of working hard to read the little font sizes. I should note that I have a super high definition screen.

19. An option to not highlight the active artboard in Trim View

    It would be great if the Artboard Display Highlight Color could be hidden when in Trim View. So it doesn't interfere with the visual look of the artwork and yet could be larger in the standard display mode to enable easier workflow.
