1. Images embedded disappear after reopening the file 2025

   This problem has been occurring for a few weeks: when I reopen a file containing embedded images, they disappear, turn white, or turn the original image color.

   In 15 years of using ILLUSTRATOR, this has never happened, and it's truly annoying. Some files contain more than 50 images, and if a small one disappears, it's unmanageable.

   The strange thing is that it doesn't happen with all files; it's random.

   I'm working with Illustrator 30.0, but the same thing happened with 29.8.3.

   Looking through various forums, you may already be aware of this problem.

   Please fix it, as we pay a very expensive subscription.

   I work with:

   iMac 27 2020 and iMac 24 M1 2021

   MacOS Ventura 13.7.8

   Claimed to be fixed in the latest 30.3 general release.

   As usual, the fix won’t fix the damaged files, but should not damage those saved anew or resaved.

   Please update, check, and comment back if it still happens.

2. Cannot move images in my design.

   I'm not able to move images in my design. If I click image trace and make the image into a vector then I can move it, but as soon as I rasterize it back into an image then I can no longer move it. I also am not able to click to select the image, I have to drag a box around it to select the image.

   Things I've tried:
   - Checked for update
   - Restarted my computer
   - Restarted Illy
   - Restarted Illy while pressing shift-options-command
   - moved the file to my desktop (off of external drive)
   - cleared storage, incase my scratch disk was getting full

   None of these have helped.

   We’ve released version 29.8.1 that resolves the underlying issue with object and artboard scaling. We recommend updating to this version to prevent similar issues in the future.

3. "Verifying access to ://...."

   I have some problem with a file that has linked images pointing to a drive that I don't have access, nor will.

   Illustrator will open that file, prompt that there is linked files with broken links buy will show the thumbnail data from linked files, and then will show every 2 minutes a annoying popup trying to connect to this remote address.

   There is NO WAY to prevent this from preferences, or from the link panel.

   The popup is really annoying, you need to way a couple of minutes, Illustrator will block everything until you can stop the search.

   Sadly I cannot share some file, because there is some NDA involving it, but I can share what I think are the steps to reproduce de case

   1 - create a file,
   2 - link some images from a remote network server folder,
   save the file
   3 - share the file to someone that no longer has access to that IP address

   (the images are not embedded they are just linked images)

   The issue is reported to not happen anymore with version 29.3. Please comment back if it still does for you.

4. Unable to place image files of any kind into Art Illustrator

   Illustrator v 28.4.1
   When trying to place or drag an image file into AI I get the error message "unknown format and cannot be opened" or "in a format which can not be placed". These are all existing files that I have used many times. I tried EPS, JPG, and PNG. It will not allow any new images. In addition, the image files in my existing files are now broken. Attached are the errors I am getting for the new files

5. Nested Linked AI Files don’t display proper fonts

   Nested or linked AI files inside other AI layouts are not letting the fonts come through. It renders to default font.

   As per the comment, the issue was with a font manager program (this time Typeface for Mac specifically), and fonts not being fully activated.

6. イラレ配置画像がメタ情報により回転してしまう。

   イラレCC2021のデータを、イラレCC2023で開く際、画像データにあるメタ情報の方向が反映されてしまい、イラレ上で回転表示となる。
   回転情報を無効にしてデータを開くように、プログラムの変更をお願いできますでしょうか。

   Reported to be resolved in the latest general 30.3 build, Please refer to the comment by @monokano with the explanation of the current behavior. Kindly comment back if your experience with 30.3 differs from it.

7. Image trace limited palette no longer works in AI 27.1

   Image trace does not use a limited palette when this option is specified in the tracing options.

   Steps:

   1. Place photographic or other image with many colours
   2. Choose any of the limited colour presets (16 in this example) and trace

   Expected result: Trace uses the specified number of colours
   Actual result: Trace acts as if 'Automatic' was selected (or otherwise disregards limited palette)

   I am happy to share that we have fixed this bug in our latest release – 27.1.1 which is available worldwide now.

   Going forward, our goal is to fix as many top User-Voice bugs as possible and as frequently as possible. Given the nature of the fixes, some of the bugs will take a longer time to fix, but we are on it.

8. Links panel showing wrong date created and date modified

   MacOS Monterey (12.4) on
   MacBook Pro with M1 Max Chip
   Illustrator 26.3.1
   All placed links show a creation and modified date of Feb 6, 2040. This is every file I open. It doesn't matter if the link is stored locally or on a server. The dates of the file stored in the folder are correct, but the info in the links panel shows the wrong dates. All previous versions of Illustrator show the correct date. This makes Illustrator 2022 unusable for me!

9. Images get randomly cropped from unwanted sides with Crop Image

   Currently when you wish to crop an embedded or linked image, clicking the crop button makes the cropping interface appear over the image.

   When this happens, illustrator has already applied some (seemingly random) degree of cropping to the image.

   This is super annoying if you only want to crop one edge of the image as you have to return the other three edges to the uncropped position.

   Also if you are zoomed in so far as to not be able to see all the edges of the image, you crop the edge you are looking at without realising illustrator automatically cropped the edge which is out of view. It is not uncommon to perform many other edits, before zooming out to realise half your image is missing and having to undo all the way back to the crop.

   The automatic crop has never cropped an image in a way that makes sense for me, and i dont understand why they’ve gone to the extra effort of incorporating an auto crop that wastes more time than it saves.

   Please fix this or enlighten me as to the value i am unable to see.

   As per the comment, the random crop is caused by Enable Content Aware Defaults option in Preferences > General. Turn it off disable auto-suggesting weird crops.

   As for the white lines, this a separate problem, now merged into separate report:
