Image trace limited palette no longer works in AI 27.1
Image trace does not use a limited palette when this option is specified in the tracing options.
Steps:
- Place photographic or other image with many colours
- Choose any of the limited colour presets (16 in this example) and trace
Expected result: Trace uses the specified number of colours
Actual result: Trace acts as if 'Automatic' was selected (or otherwise disregards limited palette)
I am happy to share that we have fixed this bug in our latest release – 27.1.1 which is available worldwide now.
Going forward, our goal is to fix as many top User-Voice bugs as possible and as frequently as possible. Given the nature of the fixes, some of the bugs will take a longer time to fix, but we are on it.
You can update to the latest release using Creative Cloud desktop App: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/creative-cloud-updates.html
Thank you for all the feedback. Keep it coming!

Ton, I'm using 27.6.1, which I think is the current version available in my area.

Ken, which Illustrator version are you using?

I'm trying to clean up the lines of a detailed ink drawing and remove the white background. Image trace will no longer refine the fine details. Instead it merges them all together into black patches. This happens no matter how much I try to refine the image trace to be allow more detail. I didn't have this problem in previous versions.

Al momento de yo colocar que se limite a 6 colores me coloca 43 al calco de imagen en una imagen bastante simple lo que me complica la vectorización

This is a huge problem! Why is this not fixed?
I use this function every day for my graphics business. This has stopped all productivity.
Please fix ASAP.
Thankyou for allowing us to roll back to previous version, but still disappointing to find this in newest release.

So, for whatever reason, this new version of illustrator exaggerates the colors on the image trace tool. All I want is 16, and it gave me 502. And I can't find any settings To change it back. Switch it back to the old version and works like a charm. Please fix this this would have been a nightmare if I was on a time crunch with a client. Luckily this was just an experiment

Yes, it's the same for me and other colleages in our company. We're suffering quite a lot from this bug and will go back to an older version until the bug is hopefully fixed.

The 3 colour trace has stopped working since v27.1 update. Even on very basic source images it seems to add more colours than are there. I use this feature daily to speed up my workflow.

Years and many versions down the line and this still isn't fixed. Apart from anything else, if it doesn't work just strip the functionality from the programme - don't make it seem like it's an option!

I just want to render a limited palette from a photo, but the 3, 6 and 16 color presets still output hundreds of colors. That is NOT 3 colors on the traced image in my screenshot!

Siehe Beispielbild: Vorschau aktiviert. Nach Ausführen vektorisiert die Software das Tool zwar, jedoch nicht nach den ausgesuchten Präferenzen.
