all repeat options, radial, mirror, grid do not show

All repeat options: Radial, Mirror and grid are grayed out. Have to select Text tool for them to show up, and then I can use them.

    I have the same problem for trying to repeat some photos images I have Placed and Embeded. Everything is selected but the Grid, radial and mirror options are greyed out? What am I doing wrong?

    Same thing for me... :( When you say "Art is not selected when we create art from brush tool." How do I get it to be selected then? Convert to shape does not work, same for outline stroke.

    What's my next step?

    I have all the objects embedded and selected, but the options are still grayed out for me...how do you fix it?
