Thanks for reporting this issue. Illustrator team really appreciate this.
We have fixed this bug in our Beta Builds available on CCD. Please try and provide your feedback.
The fix will be pushed in the next stable release.
The current workaround is to disable Missing Glyph Protection option in Preferences > Type.
Thanks and regards

We shouldn't have to close Photoshop to have the behavior disappear. See my screen capture today attached or on Box.com: https://nic.box.com/s/hemehrwzo9fm0ye3evst9ma41x908ipp

An error occurred while saving the comment mikey_likes_it commentedHi Ankit! I didn't need to. I just did this: https://community.adobe.com/t5/illustrator/illustrator-v25-0-won-t-start-but-here-is-a-possible-solution/td-p/11619537?page=1
An error occurred while saving the comment mikey_likes_it commentedI just found out that the thread that was the best for figuring this out was locked by an Adobe employee. So I started a new one but not before I tried something new: https://community.adobe.com/t5/illustrator/illustrator-v25-0-won-t-start-but-here-is-a-possible-solution/td-p/11619537?page=1

Yes, this is still a bug that literally happened to me yesterday with both Illustrator and Photoshop open. As soon as I closed Photoshop, the flickering in Illustrator stopped. And it's not a mac OS thing.
