1 voteOne can apply a new opacity mask to an object that already has it, if you group this object first — then apply a mask to this container. However, if your object is a single group already, Illustrator won’t allow you to create another group (for obvious reason, to prevent an accidental 'group wrapping'). You can workaround it if you group it with a dummy object and delete it after, or use a free Group Anyway script: https://onthehead.com/ais/group003/
An error occurred while saving the comment kam tang commentedHi Egor, thanks I managed to get the result now. I select everything and 'Make Mask' in the transparency window. I can get the desired result in '4' by grouping everything under the masking path - if I don't group I get the top result in '4'.
Cheers! An error occurred while saving the comment kam tang commentedThe desired result i'm trying to achieve. This is a basic explanation of the process.

An error occurred while saving the comment kam tang commentedI am also experiencing this on gradient strokes (no fill) where facets appear within the path.
Sometimes the facets can be removed by making the shape a compound path - but it doesn't always work.
An error occurred while saving the comment kam tang commentedI'm experiencing this too (v25.2.2)
