An error occurred while saving the comment Russ commentedYes. There is no sign of any betas on my CC app.
An error occurred while saving the comment Russ commentedA beta isn't showing up for me on an M1 Mac. I think it doesn't populate for us.
Just to confirm I tried it with all default fonts by using "fontrestore default" in the Terminal.
Nothing came back as a problem.
Even tried it with every font in my user folder manually moved. Still gets the same result.
An error occurred while saving the comment Russ commentedYes. This happens in the Type>Chraracter panel too. And properties.
To be specific it only occurs when clicking and dragging. When just scrolling or tapping the scroll bar it doesn't hang. It behaves in exactly the same way in each panel.
I have tried stripping my user fonts to zero and just keeping the system fonts and it behaves the same.
This behaviour doesn't occur in 2021 or 2022.
I haven't tried the beta. I didn't even know there was one available for the Mac.

WebP export support is added in illustrator Beta 27.6.
Please test it to see if it matches your expectations.
There is no information yet about exporting other formats requested. Meanwhile, we can import / place HEIC/HEIF, WebP and AVIF already.

An error occurred while saving the comment Russ commentedThe way I see it functioning is this.
Within the selection options of the preferences there is a toggle for "Prefer selected object". This could also appear on the "Control" bar in the main workspace.
The extra steps (I personally use a keyboard shortcut to invoke "isolation mode") adds friction when doing a lot of quick changes, so I envisioned it more like a "soft isolation mode", which doesn't prevent you selecting other objects, but requires you to tap off (thus deselecting everything) and leaving you with nothing selected. The prefer selected object option is then essentially reset and ready for the next object to be selected.
The main reason for this option is to allow for lots of quick changes, (adding/deleting points, Corner manipulation etc) without something like the pen tool creating a new point that deselects the current path (because it wasn't zoomed in close enough to register) and then just creates a stray point that you then have to find and delete.
The only issue I can see with this is when people prefer the object selection method rather than path selection. However it would be more of a power user tool so having it as as sub-section under the "Object selection by path only" would work well and prevent a feature being perceived as a bug. Much like the "Animated Zoom" function as a toggle under "GPU Performance".

I've been having this issue with Illustrator and Photoshop for what must be years now.
I use a Cintiq and when I close the lid of my M1 Macbook Pro and then turn off the Cintiq, the windows shift down a quarter way down the screen when turning the Cintiq back on.
Every. Single. Time. Several times a day.
It is definitely a dual monitor issue and it has only affected Adobe apps.
