    This is finally addressed in the latest 30.8.0.7 Beta build, hooray!

    Clicking the soft area of a drop shadow (or any other raster effect region) no longer selects the object casting it. We can now click straight through the effect region to select whatever is behind it.

    Please check if it works for you and share if there are cases when you need the legacy behavior.

    @Egor Sure, I'm attaching a video of the bug in action and the test file created in the video. This is on an M2 mac running Sonoma.
