    Hello,

    We have started working on the tech that allows us to enable the following:

    • Ability to convert the outlined/expanded text back to live text.
    • Ability to lock objects to a character/glyph of a live text, allowing users to change the text (properties) while the object stays locked into the character.

    As we work through the complexities of handling different font families, font size, and other font properties, we would love to meet with you and share our thinking around it and understand :

    • Your use cases and workflows that this feature will help you with.
    • What is most essential for you.
    • The workarounds that you currently use to achieve this.

    Starting with version 29.3, Illustrator got the 'Embed permitted fonts for file preview' option in the Illustrator Options save dialog.

    Currently it’s disabled by default, because there were multiple confused complaints on the changed behavior.

    When missing in your current system, fonts will render as previews in the documents that were saved with this option enabled — it 'bakes' these outlines in. When we try to edit one though, we get a warning and the font becomes substituted, as before.

    However, this is not 'Convert text to outlines on open' as we requested it. The option does not provide a way to do that for all the embedded outline previews, and Ai still doesn’t allow to select these at once.     The solution is pushed into Global Availability build 28.6.

    PDF is now available as type in File > Export > Export As dialog.


    However, File > Adobe PDF Presets menu, similar to one InDesign has, to allow even quicker export, is absent still.

    Similar to what Indesign has please. I need this for jobs with white ink base and jobs with Varnish/UV over coat. I also need this for jobs that have spot colors with process bump base. Thanks.
