We have the fix available in the latest release. Please update Illustrator using Adobe Creative Cloud application to the latest build for version Illustrator CC 22.1.

It really doesn't make any sense starting up top every time you want to look at another font. I don't mind having that section up top, if you wanted to reference some of your recently used fonts, but hate that it automatically resets your place on the list to the very top every time you go in there. Just a simple step back to the way it was would be amazing! It was so much more intuitive.

The current workaround for completely eliminating 'Recent' section in font list is to set '0' in Preferences > Type: Number of Recent Fonts.
But since it’s stupid, please add votes to make it work properly.

I know it now matches the way InDesign works, but change Indesign too!
