I am happy to share that we have fixed this bug in our latest release – 26.3.1 which is available worldwide now.
Going forward, our goal is to fix as many top User-Voice bugs as possible and as frequently as possible. Given the nature of the fixes, some of the bugs will take a longer time to fix, but we are on it.

We have the fix available in the latest release. Please update Illustrator using Adobe Creative Cloud application to the latest build for version Illustrator CC 23.0.3

Just updated software and now this doesn't work. Quit messing with things.

Can you please verify this problem does not occur anymore in the latest Illustrator builds?

I'm having this problem too. Why do i bother updating my software??
Shift+Drag still buggy in Illustrator 26.1. Sometimes works sometimes doesn't. When it doesn't I usually get a ding sound. And a green thing pops up for a second.
