Dear Users,
We have launched this feature in the latest release of Illustrator, 24.2. I request you to try out this feature and give us your feedback.
Thanks,

An error occurred while saving the comment Tom M commentedto anonymous - bit of a narrow minded approach, sounds like the juniors need to be trained in vector rather than penalising the program.
Been following this discussion for a while now, I think it's good that something is being done about this but also disappointed that it's not a proper solution - from what I've seen and heard it seems to be a bit of a get-you-by bodge that changes the scaling of the existing canvas to appear bigger. I still maintain that the best approach for this would be to allow users to select their canvas size and zoom level. Then if working on a small icon, the program will be fast and efficient, if working on a full size bill board than it's also possible even if the user suffers in memory and processor usage. (if you're regularly working on massive raster designs than expect to have to get a computer with the processing power to back it up)
good luck all.
An error occurred while saving the comment Tom M commentedboycott is a great idea... except I rely on the software to do my job. "I need that graphic back over to me by this afternoon" "oh I'm sorry, I can't because I'm boycotting Adobe and I don't have any software" :(
I would join a boycott if only I could keep working at the same time which isn't going to happen. Basically, Adobe have us by the short and curlies.
An error occurred while saving the comment Tom M commentedI signed up to the prerelease verisons of AI and PSD... wasn't impressed to be honest, and yes, I've raised several of my own feature requests and submitted my own bug reports... just before you start accusing everyone of being trolls from behind your safe little anonymous name...
seriously, I've used adobe for about 7 years now, and i'm not saying I'm a pro.... I'm just a bogstandard guy, but I get annoyed about the lack of response from Adobe like many others... I rely on it for my job, and there's nothing more frustrating then when it's physically not possible to meet a deadline because the software fails... I'm sure the new version will have lots of bug fixes, but what are Adobe doing to make sure there won't be new bugs in the new version? I've spent a ton of money on Adobe products so far, and feels like they don't give their users a lot of respect.

Are you kidding us? every single new release / update / patch / hotfix of the Adobe Creative Suite is plagued with bugs, problems and issues, and Adobe support to zilch to help. I stay around 3-7 versions behind current version, simply because new versions are so unreliable... Even when they release AI2020, I won't be using it any time soon...
Personally I think it would be better if Adobe did their own software testing, rather then using their customers as guinea pigs.
An error occurred while saving the comment Tom M commentedComes back to my point of if you need to have a canvas to place artboards, why can't the canvas size be set by the user? If you're designing icons, you can create a canvas of a few hundred pixels. If you're designing for large format print, you make the canvas a few metres across.
Thus canvas size is user generated, so the program is always running efficiently.
An error occurred while saving the comment Tom M commentedI've nothing to hide, thought I was logged in so apologies for the "anonymous" comment. I wasn't trying to get at the user, just very very cynical about Adobe's software efforts.
My point was that Adobe probably has around 13-15 million users across their programs. Let's say the votes on this post represent 1% of the users that actually have the issue, so only 1 in a 100 upvote this post. That means that 55,300 users are having this problem. Based on 14M users, this is about 0.004% of their users.
To Adobe that's probably just chickenfeed... we don't matter enough to them to do something serious about it. I believe this feature has been requested in forums etc for almost 10 years now... If Adobe was going to do something about it, surely they would have done something years ago?
An error occurred while saving the comment Tom M commentedtrackhorse. the number of people that need this is probably 0.0001% in all reality. They won't change so useless commenting.

This is currently a huge problem for me with using the "Asset Export" panel. I have a document with all our company icons on it in one place, this enables me to work with them very simply in on project, and when I create new ones I can check they visually are consistent with the other icons.
I've always used the Asset Export panel to export all the icons individually as SVG files, but now however I'm having issues that weren't there before. It's as though the decimal place is set to a high setting (this setting isn't available using the Asset Export panel) and therefore the SVG exports are inaccurate and can't be used.
I literally can't export our company icons any more, I can't use the File > Export > SVG menu because this export the whole document and not individual icons. Absolute shambles.
