I have this issue too and just posted a thread about it.
You said it a lot more concisely than me :)

"Since updating to to the latest version of Illustrator I've started getting an annoying problem which I can't seem to fix.

I design invitations and once designed, I export them as pdfs.

I set up an Action to export the file to my desktop in the correct pdf preset.

One click of the Action and the pdf was on my desktop and the Illustrator file was closed. This was perfect and saved me a lot of time.

Since updating illustrator, I set this up again and it works perfectly until I restart my computer the next day.

Suddenly, when clicked, the Action will export, but it asks me to select a location to save the file and also prompts me to give the pdf a file name.

The purpose of the Action is to cut out unnecessary steps.

I can't work out how to fix.

I export over 100 pdfs a day, so as you can imagine when the Action works correctly, it saves me a lot of time.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks."

    John
