I am happy to share that we have fixed this bug in our latest release – 26.0.0 which is available worldwide now.
Going forward, our goal is to fix as many top User-Voice bugs as possible and as frequently as possible. Given the nature of the fixes, some of the bugs will take a longer time to fix, but we are on it.

An error occurred while saving the comment Rob Barrett commentedIt's a very frustrating omission, especially when designing for dark screens. If there's a specific reason for it not behaving like this, it would be great to at least have an option to toggle the behaviour.

Honestly, I had no idea that was even a possibility. For how long has that been implemented in Illustrator?!
That looks like it would be very helpful in my workflow (thanks!), but it could still be useful in certain situations – like in your suggestion – to be able to change the default behaviour.
